National Health Co-op
The latest addition to the suite of National Health Co-op medical practices located in the grounds of the Australian National University. This medical facility is split over two floors, connected via a central feature staircase clad in recycled timber. Creating a space that was warm, inviting and calming was paramount to the success of the facility, steering well away from the clinical stereotype. Waiting areas are separated from Doctor’s rooms by angled levers, creating privacy to these spaces while allowing natural light to filter throughout. Pathways to treatment and consultation rooms are brightened through the introductions of feature gradient blue doors and strip lighting. Curves have been introduced where possible to add softness to the medical practice. The needs of medical staff and patients was carefully addressed to ensure this is a comfortable space for all.
‘‘They took the time to intimately understand the design brief by asking intelligent questions and researching industry best practice. Their approach ensured that the product they developed not only exceeded my overall expectations, but also performed against the project’s contextual considerations and budget requirements. I highly recommend Studio & You and look forward to working with them again on future projects.”
